Welcome Letters
Sunita YadavalliDear Delegates, Faculty Advisors, and Friends,
It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the third session of New Jersey Model United Nations Conference (NJMUN). This year’s conference will be hosted from Friday, March 23 through Saturday, March 24, 2012 at the Princeton Wyndham Forrestal Center. There are several factors which separate NJMUN from the many Model UN conferences to choose from. NJMUN is a fresh and highly interactive small-scale conference designed to provide valuable experiences to both beginner and advanced delegates. For the past two years, our conference has successfully provided our delegates a cohesive learning environment and the proper tools to foster intelligent, stimulating debate and collaboration that mirrors the workings of the United Nations. NJMUN gives students the opportunity to be part of an enriching experience as delegates by debating global issues, improving writing and public speaking skills, forging new relationships, and building their leadership qualities. No matter how much or how little Model UN experience that you have had, NJMUN will provide a fruitful experience that is tailored to your individual capabilities. On behalf of the entire staff and secretariat, I welcome you to NJMUN III for what will be the best conference yet. If you have any questions, please feel free to personally contact me at [email protected]. I am looking forward to seeing you next March! Always, Sunita Yadavalli Secretary-General, NJMUN 2012 [email protected] |

Hello everyone! My name is Peilin Cui and I am your Director General for NJMUN III. Here at TCNJ, we are all very excited for this year’s conference and we hope you are as well!
I have been involved in Model UN since my freshmen year of college, currently serving as Vice President of the International Studies club and participating at both UPMUNC and HNMUN on the collegiate circuit. I’ve had the honor of serving on the administration of NJMUN since its inception, most recently as Undersecretary General of Business last year.
At the College, I am a junior Economics and International Studies double-major. The pairing offers a very comprehensive area of study which I’ve had the chance to utilize in real-world terms during my internships at Morris County Democrats and Merrill Lynch.
Outside of MUN, I am an active brother of the professional business fraternity, Delta Sigma Pi, where I serve as Vice President of Professional Activities. I am also a resident of the International House, a living and learning housing community on campus that encourages cross-cultural immersion and education.
While I’m not studying in the library café (affectionately known as the lib caf, since we abbreviate everything at the CONJ), I enjoy reading, working out, and spending time with friends.
Model UN has been an extremely fulfilling aspect of my college career. It has given me the opportunity to learn so much of the world and myself, and to meet so many talented and driven individuals, including the staff of NJMUN III.
I hope that this year’s conference will be both challenging and rewarding for you, and that you can walk away from this experience with enhanced skills, new friends, and broadened perspectives what will help you cultivate ideas and partnerships for the betterment of the international community.
We are here to make this the best possible experience for you, our delegates, so please don’t hesitate to contact us with any questions you may have concerning the conference, the College, or anything else that might interest you!
Best of luck, and happy MUNing!

Dear Delegates,
I would first like to welcome you all to NJMUN III. My name is Nishi Pandey and I am going to be your Under Secretary General for ECOSOC. I am currently a senior at The College of New Jersey studying Biology and Economics. In terms of career goals, I wish to be a physician and am currently applying to medical school. I first joined TCNJ Model UN in the spring of my sophomore year. Since then I have fallen in love with this organization. I was able to serve as the Secretary for the Spring 2011 term and am currently the Vice President for Model UN and Off-Campus Initiatives.
I have also been involved in other activities during my time here at TCNJ. For one, I was a dancer on the competitive fusion dance team, TCNJ Saathiya, for my freshman and sophomore year. I also served on the executive board of the Indian Student Association and the Foundation for the International Medical Relief of Children, or FIMRC.
My hobbies include a wide range of activities, such as playing basketball and soccer, running, reading, hanging out with friends, and traveling. In fact, I actually had the fortunate chance to study abroad in Spain during the Fall 2010 semester. This was truly an enriching experience that not only showed me the wonders the international community has to offer, but also opened my eyes to the various economic and social problems plaguing these countries. This was a major reason why I chose to head this year’s ECOSOC committee. Thus, as your USG, I will be working throughout the conference to ensure that each delegate has the chance to engage in fair and meaningful debate.
With that said, I am really looking forward to meeting all of you this coming March! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me.
Yours,
Nishi Pandey

Matt Langdon
Dear Delegates,
I look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you all over the course of this spring’s NJMUN III, but in the interim, I would like to offer you a brief introduction to myself. My name is Matthew Langdon and I am the crisis director for this coming installment of NJMUN. As a freshman, I co-chaired NJMUN’s crisis committee on the Sudanese Secession Crisis, as well as serving as a member of TCNJ’s delegation (SOCHUM) to the University of Pennsylvania’s Model UN conference in Philadelphia.
When I am not scheming ways in which I might make a more engaging, exciting, and rewarding crisis experience for you, I am pursuing my double majors, history and international studies here at TCNJ. I was born in Pittsburgh just over 19 years ago, but grew up in a number of locales, ranging from San Diego, CA, to a brief period in Northern France, finally settling in West Orange, NJ. In addition to moving around often, I have always enjoyed travelling and appreciated the wider perspective it has gifted me with.
As you make your preparations for NJMUN III, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] with any questions you may have about the crisis scenario “the Security Council in 2025”, or any other aspects of the conference and committee.
Sincerely,
Matthew Langdon
Crisis Director, NJMUN III
